AltaMed Health Services, one of the nation’s largest federally qualified health centers, was forced to evacuate its Pasadena clinic as a result of the devastating Eaton Fire, which later consumed the entire facility.
In response to the fire’s destruction and the ongoing impact of the Southern California wildfires, AltaMed has launched the AltaMed 2025 Fire Relief Fund to provide critical support for patients, employees, and the broader community affected by the disaster.
Gifts will support relief efforts being provided to the community by AltaMed medical staff, and provide support for our patients and employees impacted by fires and evacuations.
The fund will assist in covering the costs of essential health services being delivered to evacuees currently sheltered at the Pasadena Convention Center. It will also provide immediate relief to patients, employees, and community members living in fire-impacted areas.
Several other AltaMed clinics in the region have also been affected by evacuation orders and remain temporarily closed.
“While we mourn the loss of one of our clinics, our top priority remains the health and safety of our patients. We are committed to ensuring access to healthcare services for all community members impacted by the Eaton Fire,” said AltaMed Foundation President Dr. Zoila D. Escobar. “Our dedicated staff have been working around the clock, delivering medical care, mental health support, medications, and essential services to evacuees at the Pasadena Convention Center.”
In addition to the impact on patient care, the fire has displaced several hundred AltaMed employees, with at least 15 confirmed to have lost their homes, according to hospital leadership.
“Our providers, staff, and administrators remain steadfast in their commitment to continuity of care for our patients, while also supporting the broader community’s health needs during this crisis,” AltaMed officials said in a statement.
