LACMA Representative on the L.A. Care Board of Governors – Call for Nominations

The Los Angeles County Medical Association (LACMA) is pleased to announce the call for nominees to serve on the L.A. Care Board of Governors as the LACMA representative.  The L.A. Care Board of Governors is explicitly responsible for achieving the mission of L.A. Care Health Plan through its stewardship role which includes fiscal accountability, policy development and approval, establishment of the overall strategic direction of the organization and general oversight of management. 

 

This is a voluntary position for which members report spending at least 10-12 hours per month, including meeting attendance and preparation time.   The following are criteria and characteristics of a Board member:

 

  • Must reside, be employed or provide services within Los Angeles County.

  • Must be a LACMA member.

  • Have the vision and objectivity to act in the best interests of L.A. Care and its members.

  • Be familiar with the needs of and have an interest in Medi-Cal, Medicare, and health services for vulnerable populations in Los Angeles County.

  • Have knowledge of the health care delivery structure in Los Angeles County and issues associated with implementing managed health care services.

  • Have an understanding of the diverse geographic and multi-cultural make-up of L.A. Care’s members.

  • Be committed to supporting a health care system funded by the public for the public good.

  • Be committed to being a responsible, active and contributing participant of the Board of Governors.

  • Have excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a group, communicate with fellow Board members and staff, and maintain dialog among L.A. Care’s stakeholders.

  • Be committed to regularly attending meetings.

  • Be committed to attend all LACMA Board meetings and communicate updates.

 

For consideration, please submit each of the following:

1.     your CV/resume ;

2.     a statement of qualifications (1000 words or less) that describes why you would be a valuable addition to the L.A. Care Board of Governors, and what your experience has been with L.A. Care’s patient population, specifically Medi-Cal patients, and

3.     a statement expressing whether you have

o   any financial interests in any healthcare plan,

o   a role in the management of any healthcare plan, or

o   a position on a governance or advisory board, committee, or commission of a healthcare plan.
